The Soho Set

This two-piece set was developed and constructed for my CADS 3750 course and is the result of my first time experimenting with boning and contouring. The design features a halter-style top layered over a fully boned bustier paired with a straight style maxi skirt. The inner bustier was built using a combination of duck canvas for structure, lining for comfort, and a 100% cotton Ikat for the main fabric. Boning was strategically placed throughout the lined bustier to create support and a sculpted fit. The halter layer was fully lined and constructed separately, then sewn over the structured bodice. The halter closes at the back with hook-and-eye closures, while the main bodice features a grommet closure with five metal grommets where I then laced a white cording through them for adjustability and a statement finish. The look is completed with a straight-cut maxi skirt featuring a side slit for movement and wearability. The skirt includes an invisible zipper at the back and an interfaced waistband for clean structure and durability.
